The Birth of Lady Fatima Al-Zahra (as) Celebrated at the IECOC

On Saturday, March 18th, the IECOC celebrated the anniversary of the birth of Lady Fatima al-Zahra (as). The program was a success and included an all-female presentation of the program. We would like to thank all those who participated in our program, including our guest speakers Sister Alison Gokal and Sister Hanna Chandoo.

Dr. Qazwini Attends International Conference in Iraq

On Friday, March 17th, Dr. Qazwini participated in an international conference held in Najaf, Iraq on the revival of thought, methodology, and delivery of preaching and presentation of Islamic teachings. Dr. Qazwini spoke about the challenges facing this platform today.

IECOC Youth First Friday Event Coming Up!

The program will include presentations by guest speakers, Sister Hannah Chandoo and Sister Alison Gokal, as well as other presentations by community members.

IECOC Hosts Visit From Costa Mesa P.D.

On Wednesday, March 18th, members of the Costa Mesa Police Department visited with select members of the community at the IECOC. The Police team was led by Officer Mario Garcia for the purpose of dialogue and to discuss matters of safety, cooperation, and collaboration. The program ended with a joint dinner.

Dr. Qazwini Visits Montadhar Peace School

On Wednesday, March 8th, Dr. Qazwini visited the Montadhar Peace School in Lake Forest, CA, which operates under the direction of Dr. Laila Shahrestani. The school currently is at full enrollment and is dedicated to creating a symbiotic relationship between academic learning and Islamic teaching.

University Students Discuss Nonviolence at the IECOC

On Thursday, February 23rd, a group of students from Chapman University visited the IECOC with their professor, Dr. Reverend Rafael Luévano, to discuss Islamic stances on nonviolence with Dr. Qazwini. We look forward to hosting them again in the spirit of education and understanding.

New Prayer Times Due to Daylight Savings

Due to the upcoming daylight savings time change, Friday Prayers will begin at 1 PM, starting on March 17th onwards. For the Thursday night programs, prayer will begin 15 minutes after sunset. Prayers will be preceded with Dua Kumayl by 30 minutes.
