Muharram and the season of Ashura are upon us once again. During this time, millions of Muslims come together to commemorate one of the greatest sacrifices and struggles in Islamic history: the sacrifice of Imam Husayn (as) and his family and companions. Imam Husayn’s (as) ultimate sacrifice teaches us the true meanings of the pursuit of truth, courage, honor, sacrifice, and victory.
In commemoration of this great event, IECOC began holding its annual Muharram program Friday, October 24. The program is continuing nightly until Monday, November 3, 2014. The program consists of Maghrib prayers at 7 pm, followed by Quranic recitation, youth presentations, English lecture by Sayed Mahdi al-Qazwini, poetry and lamentation, Farsi lecture, and concluding with dinner.
All are highly encouraged to attend and benefit from these important nights as we seek to learn from Imam Husayn (as), his family members, and his companions. More details may be found in the flyer.
