IECOC Ramadan Statement

IECOC Ramadan Statement

The IECOC announces that based on numerous local community sightings confirming the first day of Sha’ban on Friday, May 30th, and no reliable sightings for the month of Ramadan on Friday evening, Saturday June 28th is the last day of Sha’ban and SUNDAY JUNE 29TH IS THE FIRST DAY OF THE HOLY MONTH OF RAMADAN. Please click here to see attached IECOC Ramadan timetable or visit the “resources” section of our site.
IECOC nightly programs will begin on Sunday evening and continue throughout the holy month. Programs will begin one hour before Maghrib with Quran recitation, followed by congregational prayers, Iftar, Dua Iftitah, and a lecture by Sayed Mahdi al-Qazwini. All are encouraged to attend and benefit from these programs.
The month of Ramadan is a time of spiritual awakening and nourishment, establishing a sense of religious fellowship and community, seeking forgiveness, and remembering the less fortunate. Today, the global Muslim community faces many challenges including poverty, oppression, and conflict. Thus, it is our responsibility to not only strengthen our local communities, but also to remember the international Muslim community and to keep them in our prayers and thoughts. We ask Allah to make this a blessed month for all, filled with spiritual unity, forgiveness, charity, worship, and mercy.
