The IECOC will begin its annual Muharram program on Sunday, October 2nd. The program will be held nightly for the first ten nights of Muharram, and will include special guests, the honorable Dr. Hassanain Walji (English) and the honorable Dr. Mehdi Taghiei (Farsi).
During the sacred month of Muharram, we remember the legacy of grandson of the prophet Muhammad (as), Husayn ibn Ali (as), who on the 10th of Muharram sacrificed his life on the burning sands of Karbala (Iraq) while standing against oppression and injustice. In this month and especially its first ten nights, we gather together in memory of this tragic and inspiring event to develop ourselves through education and spirituality.
