On Thursday, August 13, IECOC will be commemorating the legacy of the sixth Imam, Jafar al-Sadiq (pbuh). The program begins with Maghrib prayers at 8 pm.
The son of Imam al-Baqir (pbuh), who reintroduced the knowledge of the Holy Qur’an and Prophet (pbuh&hf) to the Muslim Ummah, Imam al-Sadiq expanded greatly on his father’s legacy and is recognized as the father of the Ja’fari school of Islamic thought and mentor to the founders of other schools of thought, such as Abu Hanifa and Malik ibn Anas. Imam al-Sadiq revolutionized the various sciences, including Islamic theology, philosophy, legal theory, jurisprudence, and even influenced other sciences such as algebra, astronomy, and others.
