On Tuesday, September 2nd, 2014, IECOC hosted the Iraqi Consul General, Mr. Ahmed Jewad, and a delegation of scholars and representatives of Al-Azhar University, the Office of The Grand Mufti, and the Ministry of Religious Affairs from Egypt, led by Dr. Mohammad Basshar Arafat of Maryland.
The delegation was warmly received by the IECOC community, and the program began with congregational prayers, followed by presentations by Imam Sayed Moustafa al-Qazwini and various members of the delegation. The program, which lasted for approximately 4 hours, revolved around the importance of intra-faith dialogue and cooperation, especially in the face of extremism and forces that attempt to destroy harmony, unity, and cooperation between Muslims around the globe.
Both the delegation as well as the community members expressed their utmost satisfaction and happiness in having the opportunity to learn from one another and establish strong bonds of understanding and religious fellowship.
