IECOC continues to hold its month-long nightly programs. The programs begin one hour before sunset with a Qur’an recitation circle, followed by congregational prayers, iftar, Du’a Iftitah, and concluding with a Qur’an tafsir presentation by Imam Sayed Moustafa al-Qazwini.
Special upcoming IECOC month of Ramadan programs include:
- Thursday, July 2: Celebration of the birth of Imam Hassan (pbuh).
- Sunday, July 5: 1st eve of Laylatul Qadr and commemoration of the legacy of Imam Ali (pbuh).
- Tuesday, July 7: 2nd eve of Laylatul Qadr and commemoration of the legacy of Imam Ali (pbuh).
- Thursday, July 9: 3rd eve of Laylatul Qadr
For this year’s program, Imam al-Qazwini will be discussing and analyzing various verses from the Holy Qur’an that are often misunderstood in today’s contemporary world. Topics will include: The Qur’an and violence, the status and role of women in Islam, the meaning and role of Shari’ah law, issues related to family law, civic engagement, political activism, the message of hijab, Islam’s stand on same-sex marriage, Islam’s stand on domestic violence, interactions with non-Muslims, interfaith and intra-faith relations.
