IECOC is honored to host the respected Prof. Tallal Turfe on Saturday, October 31 for a book signing event. Prof. Turfe’s new book is entitled “Know & Follow The Straight Path: Finding Common Ground between Sunnis and Shi’as.” The program will begin at 6:30 pm with Maghrib prayers, and will include a presentation by Prof. Turfe, a Q&A session, book signing, and concluding with dinner. All are encouraged to attend and participate in this very informative event.
Tallal Turfe is a retired automotive executive and management consultant as well as college professor. He has served on many boards such as social services, hospitals, interfaith groups, international firms, and universities. He was a member of President Bill Clinton’s race relations group. Tallal has delivered presentations at the United Nations in New York on Islam, education, parenting for peace, global ethics, public diplomacy, and protection of religious sites as well as being one of 200 world political and religious leaders to participate in the United Nations Millennium World Peace Summit in August 2000. Tallal has been instrumental in securing employment in America for thousands of people with origins from the Middle East, Europe, Asia, and South America, and this was done without a fee! He has received many honors for his humanitarian achievements, for example, being the first Muslim to receive the Knight of Charity Award by the Vatican-based Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions as well as being inducted into the International Heritage Hall of Fame. Tallal is married and has five children, two of which graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point, the first Muslims to have achieved this distinction. He has published a number of books and articles on Islam. His recent book is entitled Know and Follow the Straight Path: Finding Common Ground between Sunnis and Shi’as.
