On Saturday, February 20th, 2016, the Development and Relief foundation held a successful fundraising event in Chicago, IL, to raise funds for the Imam al-Hujjah (as) hospital in the holy city of Karbala, Iraq being built under the supervision of Ayatollah Sayed Mortadha al-Qazwini. The event was attended by a large portion of the Chicago Muslim community. Dr. Sayed Mostafa al-Qazwini addressed the congregation, encouraging them to donate to this humanitarian cause which will serve thousands of people. Development and Relief Foundation is a non-profit organization which was founded in 2004 following the fall of Saddam Hussein’s regime in Iraq. The organization was founded on the belief that a quality education and a healthy community are essential parts in the process of building a democratic nation. Also, it was founded on the belief that providing services to underserved, impoverished people is the responsibility of the global community.
