On Saturday, March 1, 2014, Imam Sayed Moustafa al-Qazwini presented the opening lecture at the Shura Council of Southern California’s annual conference under the theme “The Quran’s Response to Modern Challenges,” held at the Anaheim Hilton hotel in Anaheim, California. The conference featured many distinguished academics and scholars. Imam al-Qazwini’s lecture revolved around the theme of the conference, where he gave specific and inspiring examples of the Quran’s ability to face many modern-day challenges across societies and communities in the United States and the rest of the world.
On Saturday evening, March 1, Imam al-Qazwini was invited to address the Muslim community at the Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (as) Center in San Diego, California. Imam al-Qazwini’s lecture was entitled “Muslims in the West.” Imam Ali (as) Center is the first Shia Islamic center to be established in the San Diego area by Imam al-Qazwini himself in 1994.
