SMC Statement on Saudi Executions

The brutal ideology of the Saudi Wahhabism reared its ugly head yet again with the mass executions of 37 of its citizens who were fighting for their legitimate democratic rights. This is the largest number of executions in Saudi History. Falsely labeled as “terrorists,” they were mercilessly slaughtered by the Saudi Regime without due process. These were Shia Muslim activists, scholars, and students; some as young as 17. Sources tell us that the so called ‘confessions’ were obtained under torture.
The Shia Muslim Council of Southern California unequivocally condemns the Saudi regime for these cold blooded murders.
SMC offers its heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims of this barbaric act by a brutal regime, which has systematically liquidated political dissenters over the decades.
By way of this statement SMC implores the US Congress, that it is our moral obligation as a nation that espouses human rights and freedom of speech, to hold the Saudi Government accountable for the heinous act against its own Shia Muslim citizens. The US government must use all possible channels to bear pressure upon the Saudis to cease persecuting its Shia Muslim minority.
We also call upon all the freedom loving peoples of the world to send a clear message that such barbarism is unacceptable and that Saudi actions are a crime against humanity. And until it ceases, the Saudi regime will be considered a pariah within a civilized human society.
