Eid Prayers on Wednesday, June 5th

Due to no verified reports of the sighting of the new crescent in California or the surrounding states on the evening of Monday, June 3rd 2019, Shia Muslim Council of Southern California announces that Tuesday, June 4th, 2019 is the 30th and final day of the month of Ramadan, and that Wednesday, June 5th 2019 is the day of Eid Al-Fitr (1st of Shawaal 1440).
Assalamu Alaikum.
May the peace and eternal blessings of Allah SWT be with you.
On behalf of the Shia Muslim Council of Southern California, I would like to extend my best wishes to you on this blessed and joyous day of Eid. Eid Mubarak!
Eid represents the time in which Muslims come together to celebrate the completion of the holy month of Ramadan, an intense period of spiritual, moral, and intellectual refinement and nourishment. Eid is also a time in which we remember our great blessings of sustenance, health, family, and safety.
Eid is a time where Muslims remember their very significant goal of coming together as one community in support of one another. As we gather with friends and family members to enjoy this beautiful time of celebration, let us remember our brothers and sisters around the world for whom these times present great challenges of war, poverty, and injustice, especially in Yemen, Palestine, Syria, Libya, Algeria, and Sudan.
Let us not forget to connect with our neighbors and family whom we have ignored, and let us make a concerted effort to visit the ill, the aged and the bereaved who need our emotional and moral support. And finally I ask you to remember those who were with us last year and have now proceeded to our Lord.
I pray to the Most Merciful Lord to accept all of your fasting, prayers, supplications, and good acts during the month of Ramadan and to bestow His great blessings upon you and your loved ones during this blessed Eid al-Fitr. We look forward to seeing all of you at the Annual Shia Muslim Council picnic on June 9th at Mason Park to meet so that we can be one Ummah together across Southern California.
Wassalaamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,
Imam Sayed Moustafa al-Qazwini
President, Shia Muslim Council of Southern California
